The progress made by students in their GCSEs at SRS is again greater than that made by students of the same ability nationally. Staff, students and their families are quite rightly celebrating results, with 62% gaining a standard pass (9-4) in GCSE Maths and English and 41% achieving a strong pass. The number of our students achieving the academic EBacc continues to be above the national with 24.2% awarded EBacc at 9-5 and 38.5% at 9-4. These results will quite rightly open up a range of opportunities to these students for further study, training and employment. Each and every student should be proud of their achievements. Staff are quite rightly celebrating these results, with students facing the new GCSE specifications, where greater expectations have been placed upon them. We have still seen excellent results at both whole cohort and subject level. To give you a flavour of our successes, GCSE Physics achieved a 97.3% standard pass rate and 89.3% strong pass rate, Biology and Chemistry both achieved a standard pass rate of 94.6% with strong passes at 88% and 84% respectively.  We were absolutely delighted with our Geography results, which were 90% at a standard pass and 74.2% at the strong pass level. We also have a number of students who have achieved some quite outstanding results. The top achievers were Kimberley Wang, Adib Munim, Gabriella Ewulomi, Suvika Kumaravelu, who collectively achieved 11 grade 9s and 23 grade 8s out of their 40 GCSE entries. The excellent teaching, together with care advice and guidance that students receive at Sydney Russell, has helped the young people grow and develop into strong, well rounded, confident learners, who have excellent GCSE results to prepare them for the next stage in their journey of lifelong learning. We are delighted that so many of our Year 11s have chosen to stay with us and join our successful Sixth Form. At 16+, we are delighted that 86% of our cohort have secured a place at university, with 25% securing a place at a Russell Group university. Some of our success stories include: Amanda Daud – A*A*A grades and studying Human, Social and Political sciences at the University of Cambridge; Yassin Kamara – AAA grades and studying Law at the University of Warwick; Pijus Andrijauskas – AAB and studying History at the University of Warwick; Harry Reeves – A*ABB and studying Natural Sciences at Durham University and Leo Tiny – AABB and studying Economics at the University of Bristol.
